FCC Fines

In 2006, the federal government increased the FCC's power to fine by tenfold to a total of $325,000. The bill, called the Broadcast Decency Enforcement Act, passed unanimously by the Senate and cleared the House by a vote of 379-35. President Bush signed the legislation into law.
